La Quinta, a favorite resort city is located in Riverside County, California in the Coachella Valley between the cities of Indian Wells and Indio and a 30-minute drive from Palm Springs.

The population as of January 2016 was 38,394, which increases dramatically each winter as “snow birds” looking to escape the harsh winters elsewhere travel to La Quinta to enjoy the city’s comfortable average temperature of 75 degrees.

The City of La Quinta has a strong commitment to preserve the area’s unique character and continuously supports various community, economic and business development endeavors. One such commitment is to the La Quinta Arts Foundation which hosts the annual La Quinta Arts Festival each March and attended by thousands of art aficionados.

La Quinta has been called “the golf capital of the world” and is the “Host City” for the PGA Tour’s Career Builder Challenge (formerly the Humana Challenge and the Bob Hope Classic).  With 25 golf courses, it offers a variety of great courses open to the public.  The city’s Silver Rock Resort is exceptional with large native bunkers and stunning water features. Its clubhouse, a former working-ranch hacienda was built by the Ahmanson family of Home Savings & Loan fame.

If you enjoy hiking, La Quinta was acknowledged by Sunset Magazine as one of the top hiking areas in the west.  Hikers enjoy La Quinta because of its spectacular trails with their natural beauty and mountainous surroundings. The city also provides very active bike trails.
